Where did the modern day football/soccer originate?
As a football enthusiast, I've always been curious about the origins of modern day football/soccer. Digging into its history, I found that the game we know today actually originated in England during the mid-19th century. Prior to this, various forms of football were played across the world, but it was the English who established the first set of standardized rules, known as the Cambridge Rules, in 1848. The formation of the Football Association in 1863 further cemented these rules and helped the sport gain popularity.
